401 yards - par 4 - stroke index 6

Professional’s Tip

A great opening hole and an even tougher opening drive; miss the fairway bunker on the left and leave yourself a mid to long iron to a narrow green. The second shot always plays longer than you think. A par four here would be a very good start to your round.

Professional’s Tip

The longest hole on the course, measuring 539 yards even the biggest of hitters struggle to reach this par 5 in two. The redesign of the fairway bunker has improved the look of the tee shot and being short of this bunker will give you the best view and angle for your second shot. The player can then lay up short of the three green-side bunkers to leave a short iron for the third.

Professional’s Tip

The first of the five par threes is an attractive hole played between the trees, measuring 187 yards, that requires a good accurate long iron. Beware of the four bunkers that protect the green.

Professional’s Tip

One of the best looking driving holes in Cheshire, from an elevated tee the best line is down the left hand side of the fairway as the slope is from left to right. A faded second shot could see you reach this par five in two. The best birdie opportunity of the outward nine.

Professional’s Tip

A blind tee shot over gorse and heather makes the tee shot on the 5th a little daunting. Aim slightly right of the marker post for the best angle to the green. A difficult second shot from an undulating fairway and a very small green makes a par here a great score.

A great par four of over 400 yards, only the long hitters can reach the top of the up-slope. If you don't, when playing the second shot, be mindful of the two cross bunkers at 100 yards and 50 yards short of the green. A par here is a welcome score.

The shortest par four on the opening nine, a long iron or fairway wood short and right of the fairway bunker off the tee will leave you with an uphill second shot to a fairly generous green. The colour of the flag is important for the approach shot. A good birdie opportunity.

Professional’s Tip

The start of Sandiway's Amen Corner. At 466 yards and the second part of the hole playing uphill, this is a test for even the best players. A drive left of the marker post is the best line off the tee to a sloping, left to right, fairway, a long iron or fairway wood up the hill still awaits. Don't be disappointed with a bogey five here.

This long, testing, par four demands your driver from the tee. If you are able to reach the green, a long iron will be required from an undulating fairway to a semi-blind green. A four here will please even the best of players.

A straightforward par four with two bunkers down the left of the fairway. Your three-wood might be the better option from the tee, which will leave a short iron to a flat green protected by three bunkers.

The only par five on the second half but don't reach for your driver. A shot of around 200 yards to the bottom of the hill will leave you with a second shot over the hill to attack the green with your third. Played sensibly there is a good chance of a birdie; be greedy and you could pay dearly.

Sandiway's signature hole with the Sandiway Oak situated only forty yards from the green. A tee-shot of around 190 yards, all carry, will leave you a 100 yard pitch onto the green. The biggest hitters will be tempted to go for the green, but be aware of the oak tree and the three deep bunkers protecting the green.
